Do You Need 24/7 Access to a Coworking Space? 5 Questions for Freelancers…
Are you a freelancer who is tired of working from home?
Do you want to make your home feel like a home again?
If your answer is ‘YES’ to both above questions, then Coworking will come as a breath of fresh air to you.
Coworking spaces like The Long Barn are full of fellow freelancers, solopreneurs and small businesses, who would rather work around other likeminded business people rather than by themselves at home. Being a freelancer can otherwise be very isolating.
Since opening many of our clients have benefitted from the social aspect here at The Long Barn. Simply by doing a little bit of networking in between their work in the Business Lounge here at The Long Barn, they have created contacts with fellow co-workers and in many cases used or recommended each other’s businesses.
Coworking spaces like ourselves, generally have several membership offerings, including 24/7 access to the space. Here at Accrue Workplaces we have three different membership packages:
- Private Office Membership
- Dedicated Desk Membership
- Virtual Office with Lounge Bolt on Membership
The Virtual Office with Lounge Bolt on entitles you to 34hours access per month, within the working hours of 8.30am – 6pm Monday – Friday. Both the Private Offices and Dedicated Desk Membership have 24/7 access to The Long Barn.
Here are five questions for you to determine whether you need 24/7 access to a coworking space or whether the Virtual Office with Lounge Bolt On Membership will work for you?
1.What’s your daily work routine?
When do you like to work? Are you an early bird who likes to get to work before anyone else is awake? Are you a 9-to-5 person? Do you like to sleep in and work in the afternoon and evening? Are you a night owl who doesn’t start work until 6 or 7 pm?
For the early bird and night owl, if you want to spend that time working in a coworking space, you’ll need 24/7 access. Here at Accrue Workplaces we are staffed from 8.30am – 6pm, so members without 24/7 memberships can only show up during those times.
2. How predictable is your work schedule?
Do you have a set work routine? Do you always work from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.? Or 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.? Or does your schedule depend on your client, workload, family schedule, project size, and availability? If your work schedule tends to be unpredictable, which as a freelancer it probably is, you should consider a 24/7 membership like the dedicated desk or private office, so you can come and go as you need.
3. How many days/hours do you plan to Cowork per month?
If you only plan to work a couple of days a week, for a few hours each day, a 24/7 membership will be overkill, however some people like the flexibility of being able to come and go into the office as they please.
If you’ll only be in the coworking space a couple of days a week, we suggest adjusting your work schedule to make it fit within our Virtual Office with Lounge Bolt on Membership, allowing working hours of Monday – Friday 8.30am – 6pm.
If you are wanting to work 6 or more hours per day, then the dedicated desk membership would be perfect for you. With unlimited hours of access per month, and the flexible option of having 24/7 access, you have the freedom you need as a freelancer.
4. Is the Coworking space conveniently located?
Why travel into London to use Coworking office space? When there is our premium Accrue Workplaces office situated in Cobham, Surrey away from the hustle and bustle of the city. With direct train links to Central London, Cobham is the perfect location for you to have your office. If you don’t drive do not worry as here at The Long Barn, we have a free shuttle bus service that operates within out working hours. The shuttle bus picks up Accrue members and their clients from the local train stations. The benefit of Accrue not being in the city, means that it is convenient for you to pop to the office at the weekends or the evenings if you want to take advantage of the 24/7 access.
5. Do You Plan to Work on Holidays?
Accrue Workplaces are not staffed on holidays, including bank holidays. This means that there will not be anyone here to let you in if you show up to work on those days. If you plan to work on holidays, you’ll need a 24/7 membership, so that you can let yourself into the space.
The 24/7 coworking membership gives freelancers and independent professionals a lot of scheduling freedom and flexibility as they can work anytime that suits them. However, 24/7 access may be more than you need, especially if you’re new to coworking. Ask yourself these five questions to help determine whether 24/7 access is right for you and your freelance business.
